A Roxburgh Park woman has died in hospital after crashing into an oncoming vehicle in Albion on Wednesday night.
Senior Constable Alistair Parsons said the woman, 47, was travelling west along Ballarat Road, near Adelaide Street, about 5.55pm when she attempted to change lanes.
Her car, a Ford Laser, clipped a Toyota Camry, causing her to swerve into the centre median strip.
The woman’s car then collided head-on with a utility travelling in the opposite direction.
The Ford driver was taken to hospital but died overnight.
“The driver of the ute, a 61-year-old St Albans man, received minor injuries as a result of the collision,” Senior Constable said.
The occupants of the Camry were uninjured in the accident.
The woman’s death brings this year’s road toll to 141. A total of 122 lives were lost on Victorian roads in 2015.
