A theft and series of deceptions in the Brimbank and Moonee Valley areas last month has led the Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit to appeal for public assistance.

Investigators have been told a man stole a wallet and broke into a car in Strathmore on Thursday, February 17.

It is believed the man then used credit cards from the wallet over ten transactions in Taylors Lakes, Delahey, Deer Park, Keilor Downs and St Albans, worth approximately $1000.

A police statement said the man used the credits card to purchase gift cards and cigarettes at various businesses.

Investigators have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
