What’s brewing at Brookside?

Year 8 and 9 students at Brookside College are brewing up their entrepreneur skills.

Hands on Learning teacher Seral Fehmi said students who run the But First Coffee
cafe have acquired skills that they can’t gain in the classroom.

“The program has brought out creativity and lots of entrepreneurial skills in students,” she said.

“They’re always talking about ways to make the program and business better.

“They’re getting a very different learning experience that normally wouldn’t come until later.”

Ms Fehmi said she wants to see Hands On Learning at every school.

“I have seen our students’ confidence really grow, they seem to be more connected to school and it’s broadened their view of themselves.”
