Brimbank council has put out a call for big ideas to keep the city on the move.
It wants people to tell it as they see it at consultation sessions, at libraries, leisure centres and neighbourhood houses or online if that’s what works best.
Mayor John Hedditch said the council will use feedback to inform the municipality’s long term community plan, a four-year agenda that also informs the annual budget.
“This is about having a real conversation about what our community sees as the priorities for the future,” Cr Hedditch said
“We are asking the com
munity – what’s your big idea for Brimbank?
“In fact, we are interested in all ideas, big and small, to help us create a city we can all be proud of,” he said.
“We (councillors) see our role very much as putting the community first in everything we do.
“This includes the services we deliver, the infrastructure we build and maintain, and how we support our local community.”
The consultation and feedback period starts February 7 with submissions and input due by March 7.
Information about the big ideas plan is available at council centres. There will also be face-to-face consultation sessions in Derrimut, Deer Park, Keilor, Sunshine and St Albans, the details of which are available online.
The mayor said it was important that as many people as possible have their say.
“We want to hear from as many of our community members as possible,” Cr Hedditch said.
“Following this consultation period, the council will prepare its annual budget for 2017-18, and (its) four-year council plan, 2016-20.
“Once these documents have been reviewed by council, they will go out for a further consultation period before they are formally endorsed,” he said
