Westvale to honour hit-run victim

The Westvale Soccer Club will tonight pay tribute to its much loved volunteer Arthur Frangis.

The 78-year-old was killed  after he was hit by a car travelling east on Main Road East in St Albans, at the corner of Erica Avenue, about 9pm Wednesday.

Westvale Soccer Club will hold a minute silence and wear black armbands at tonight’s match at McKechnie Reserve.

Club president Peter Petropoulos said Mr Frangis’ death has been felt across the club.

“I’ve known Arthur for 15 years. He was always smiling, very laid back… he was just a genuine guy,” said Mr Petropoulos.

“We’re all very depressed that this has happened. People have been coming into the club and we just can’t believe he’s not there anymore.”

“I hope whoever did this is caught.”
