Train passengers are facing a weekend of disruptions, with buses set to replace trains on lines across the rail network.
Power upgrades and essential maintenance will take place on 11 lines, including Craigieburn, Upfield, Sunbury, Werribee and Williamstown from Friday night through to the last trains on Sunday.
As part of the works, there will also be no city loop services.
Public Transport Victoria says the works will help improve signals and communications across the network, allowing bigger and better trains to run on the lines.
From Friday 30 August to Sunday 1 September, works take place across the metropolitan & @VLine train networks. This affects all City Loop trains, trains on the northern and Caulfield @metrotrains lines, and Geelong/Warrnambool and Gippsland lines. Details: t.co/22EFmBjCqv pic.twitter.com/3Tzb6XEpc3
