Western Water customers could be missing out on savings on their bill if they haven’t completed an account ‘health check’ recently.
The company’s chief operating officer Graham Holt said every customer can opt to pay their bill fortnightly or monthly, which reduces the cost to a manageable amount.
“We often have customers who aren’t applying the relevant concessions to their accounts which means they are missing out on a saving,” he said.
“Utility Relief Grants funded and given by the Victorian government are also a great support, allowing customers to access up to $650 to go towards their bills.”.
The grant is available to concession card holders, but customers can also apply if they’re part of a low-income household.
Mr Holt said the pandemic had resulted in all customers being more aware of expenses.
“We’ve had more customers sign up for our larger family discount and we can refer people struggling with their bills to a free financial counseling service. Some customers have just extended their bill due date by a few extra weeks which has helped them to manage too.
“There’s also easy ways to save with water like not buying bottled water, checking for leaks and taking a shorter shower.”
