Maddison Hawkett, Cassandra James and Sharon Busch have been preparing for this weekend for months.
The three Western Health employees will don gym wear in lieu of scrubs and uniform whites, and hit the tracks of Footscray Park for WalkWest, a charity event raising money for the Sunshine hospital children’s ward.
Ms Hawkett, of Kurunjang, said the third WalkWest event had given her the motivation to stay fit, mingle with colleagues and help the west’s youngsters.
Ms Hawkett said she was “trying to make it [the hospital] the best it can be.”
Hillside woman Sharon Busch is hoping to smash the 10 kilometre walk at the weekend.
“I grew up in the west and we’re a growing population with not enough funds for hospitals,” she said.
