The West Sunshine Walking Group is celebrating its 10 year anniversary of its weekly one hour walk sessions.
The group currently has approximately 15 members involved in its weekly walk, three of which have been with the group since it started in 2012.
Starting every Wednesday at 10am at the West Sunshine Community Centre, the group walks in nice and secluded places in West Sunshine where there is minimal traffic.
This includes Kororoit Creek, Callaway Park and Wright Street.
Group member Godfrey Vas said he enjoyed the company of the group members on the walk.
“We generally rarely see the same two people talking to each other on the walk. We are always talking with different people on the walk,” Vas said.
“Nobody is left alone. Everyone is within sight and welcoming of each other.”
Asked if many cultures come together on the walk: “Absolutely” he said.
Vas said the West Sunshine Community Centre took great care of the group before and after the walk by providing snacks, fruit and snacks as well as tea and coffee.
Members of the group are also not just confined to the walk with many other no cost events on offer to the group through the community centre.
These include the SunnyWest Seniors, an over 50’s activity and social group program on every Tuesday until April 5 for seniors to join in on fun activities like bingo, craft, games and for an opportunity to make new friends. TO register and find out more visit: www.trybooking.com/BWKKQ
