Victoria University Secondary College is set for a $23.9 million funding lift if the Andrews government is re-elected.
The government last week announced that it would build the first stage of the school’s masterplan.
The money will go towards the construction of the science, tech, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) building, the learning village building and the performing arts and food building.
St Albans MP Natalie Suleyman said the funding would deliver first-class facilities.
“Families in the western suburbs deserve access to great local secondary school facilities and that is exactly what we will deliver,” Ms Suleyman said.
The state government has already funded the Victoria University Secondary College masterplan.
The announcement comes weeks after the government confirmed it had no plans to provide further funding for Sunshine College’s upgrades.
Plans to significantly upgrade the school’s facilities hit a major hurdle after asbestos was found at the site.
As a result, a significant portion of the allocated $28 million will be spent on clean-up, rather than on the proposed buildings.
