Taylors Lakes Secondary College has been playing host to 20 Italian exchange students and gave them a chance to get up close and personal with some Australian wildlife.
This is the third year the college has hosted students from Rome for a homestay trip as part of their Italian language program, with languages co-ordinator Danni Deluca thrilled at the opportunity.
“This week has been a great opportunity for both students and staff to meet some new friends and to immerse in the cultural aspects of our countries,” Ms Deluca said.
“Our theme this year is ‘amicizie e buon divertimento’ which means friendships and having a good time.
“A big thanks to the families of students at Taylors Lakes Secondary College for helping to provide the students with such an amazing experience that I’m sure they will treasure forever.”
One of the unique experiences the exchange students had was to face their fear with some of Australia’s slipperiest creatures, with a snake handler coming in to put on a show.
While many students loved the feel of a snake draped around their shoulders, it was clear the reptiles were not for everyone.
Ms Deluca said it was great to see the students facing their fears and getting a first-hand look at some of Australia’s native fauna.
“The animals presented ranged from turtles, brown snakes, lizards, pythons and a baby crocodile,” she said.
“It was great to see the students being so enthusiastic and listening to the information about some of the reptiles presented.”
