Village of the young

By Tate Papworth

Parents of preschool aged children in Ardeer and Albion won’t be short of things to do over the next 12 months.

A group of parents from the Albion Anklebiters and the Ardeer Parents Group have joined forces to create the Anklebiters Village, which seeks to build community connections and ease social isolation for parents.

The Anklebiters have received a $6,500 grant from the Brimbank Council and have put it to good use, with 15 preschool friendly events to be held over the next 12 months.

The schedule of events kicks off with a professional demonstration of Baby and Toddler massage by local business owner Elizabeth Crisp of Core, Floor and More at the Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House on Saturday, November 30.

The second event will be a storytime which will be held at the family-friendly Sunshine Social on December 15.

More events – ranging from a celebration of local languages and pajama parties will be announced soon.

All events will be held within walking distance of Albion and Ardeer to promote healthy lifestyles and highlight public spaces

Albion Anklebiters president Dinesh Jayasuriya encouraged all to attend.

“These events are organised by local parents to provide connection and a sense of community for local preschoolers as well as their parents and carers. Together, we can create the village we need to raise our kids.”
