Victoria Police has launched a new Facebook page to engage with Melton and Caroline Springs residents following increased safety concerns.
The Eyewatch – Melton Police Service Area was launched at the Melton police station this morning.
Deputy Commissioner Andrew Crisp said Eyewatch pages were an effective way for police to connect with the community and fight crime.
“Eyewatch is an open platform for the community to connect with police about a variety of issues,” Deputy Commissioner Crisp said
“We understand that residents in the Melton and Caroline Springs areas may have recently been feeling concerned about safety, but we want to reassure the community that we are here, we are listening to you and we are responding to your concerns.
He said Eyewatch pages should not be used to report crime or emergencies.
Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said in a video message Eyewatch pages across the state were “very popular”.
“The Victoria Police Eyewatch page is an opportunity for you and us to be able to communication information relating to public safety, and importantly, what is happening in your area,” Chief Commissioner Ashton said.
More to come.
