Western Health’s Sunshine COVID-19 vaccination hub continues to thrive, with the centre having administered more than 100,000 vaccines.
The hub, which is one of the biggest in the state, has seen a steady number of people come through the doors in recent months.
Hub nurse unit manager David Johnson said staff were excited to have hit the 100,000 jab milestone.
“We didn’t know when we would get there, but it really heated up during the fourth lockdown and there was a huge amount of interest,” she said.
“We’ve been doing 1500 vaccines every day since. We’ve hit it pretty quickly.
“The staff have put so much effort in to get there. It’s what we’re here for and all the overtime and extra hours have paid off.”
Mr Johnson said most days they were fully booked out, with walk-ins for AstraZeneca for over 60s and people getting their second dose currently accepted.
Mr Johnson said they were planning for the hub to be operating until at least the end of the year.
“We’ll play it by ear.”
