The EPA has granted Barro Group a three week extension on the deadline to provide a Landfill Hotspot Remediation Design.
The final design must be verified by an independent EPA appointed auditor and is due on Friday, September 29.
The design will detail how Barro Group plans to extinguish the remaining landfill hotspot. The plan must use the latest site information and best practice techniques and will include smoke, dust, and odour suppression methodologies.
The EPA has continued to regularly inspect the landfill since the last community session, with the most recent inspections on July 26, and August 10.
The EPA will be hosting a community information session on Thursday, August 17 at the Kealba Community Centre from 5-7pm.
This session will provide residents with information on:
– Ongoing regulation of the site
– Latest remedial notices
– Court hearing dates
