Buses will run more frequently between a major Caroline Springs shopping precinct and the St Albans train station on weekends from late this month following changes to Route 418.
Under timetable changes, from October 31 an extra two morning bus services will also meet trains at Keilor Plains station during the weekday peak period. The twin bus services will depart Caroline Springs at 6.54am and 7.23am, arriving at Keilor Plains station at 7.18am and 7.45am respectively.
Route 418 will also now operate every 40 minutes instead of the previous 60 minutes from the first service until 7pm on weekends, with all bus services providing connections to train services.
State MP for Kororoit Marlene Kairouz said the changes would ensure more residents could leave their cars at home.
Star Weekly revealed in July that Keilor Plains train station will get an additional 220 car spaces next year.
Route 418 links Caroline Springs Square to Taylors Road/Caroline Springs Boulevard, Keilor Plains train station, Keilor shopping centre and St Albans train station. The new bus timetable is available at www.ptv.vic.gov.au
The extra bus services are part of the state government’s $100 million Better Bus Networks Program.
Public Transport Victoria says there may also be further updates to replacement bus services to cater for a Sunbury line closure, between Sunshine and Sunbury, from October 4-30.
