Two more hospital workers test positive

Two more Sunshine Hospital workers have tested positive for COVID-19.

Western Health acting chief executive Natasha Toohey confirmed the two staff members from the emergency department recently returned positive tests.

The source of infection in both cases is under investigation.

“The Department of Health and Human Services has been notified and contact tracing is under way,” Ms Toohey said.

“Our thoughts are with the affected staff members, who are both in isolation and are being provided with all the necessary supports.”

“The safety and wellbeing of staff and patients are Western Health’s top priorities. Western Health has extensive measures in place to protect patients, staff and visitors at all our sites.”

Four workers at the hospital have now tested positive within the past week.

Across Brimbank the number of active cases remained at 75 today for a second consecutive day.
