Two charged over alleged shop thefts

A man and a woman from St Albans have been charged as part of an investigation into the alleged organised theft from shops.

Police executed two warrants in St Albans and one in Maidstone on Monday, April 18, recovering baby formula, beauty products, vitamins and other personal care products, Victoria Police said in a statement.

Six people were arrested, with an 18-year-old woman from Sunshine, a 47-year-old woman from Kings Park, a 33-year-old woman from Maidstone and a 33-year-old man from Maidstone all released pending further inquires.

A 32-year-old St Albans man was charged with handling stolen goods and possessing tobacco products with intent to defraud revenue.

He was bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates Court on Friday, September 16.

A 37-year-old St Albans woman was charged with handling stolen goods, negligently possessing proceeds of crime and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

She was remanded to face Sunshine Magistrates Court yesterday.
