Two cars impounded

Police impounded two cars within 30 minutes while on patrol in Sunshine on Thursday morning.

About 12.40am, officers intercepted a Holden Barina on Ballarat Road.

A 28-year-old Braybrook man returned a positive preliminary oral fluid test and allegedly refused to undergo a secondary test.

Police said the driver had never held a Victorian driver’s licence and was disqualified from driving.

The man had his car impounded for 30 days and is expected to face charges.

A short time later, officers observed a Jaguar sedan allegedly swerving at 80km/h on the Western Ring Road about 1.05am.

Officers intercepted the vehicle and discovered the 28-year-old male driver, from Point Cook, had also never held a Victorian driver’s licence.

The man underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

He then allegedly refused to accompany police to a nearby police station for an evidentiary test and walked away from his own vehicle.

His car was impounded for 30 days and he is expected to be charged on summons.
