Two Brimbank bright sparks have joined forces to invent InternMe

Two Brimbank bright sparks have turned a frustrating experience into an exciting new venture that’s already attracting plenty of interest.

Hillside’s Jayden Kafanelis and Dylan Trickey, of Taylors Lakes, joined forces to invent InternMe, which matches students and graduates to internships, jobs and other placements around Melbourne.

Their new website collates career opportunities from reputable businesses, lets students lodge ‘virtual portfolios’ with their work history and academic profiles, and they can hold interviews via a built-in Skype link.

The self-funded venture has been such a hit, 26 companies and 500 students have signed up so far. The pair hopes to have 100 businesses by the end of the year.

Dylan said the idea for the website came to him while he searched entry-level marketing jobs, all of which required experience.

“It’s a vicious cycle, since students don’t have experience until someone gives them a chance,” he said.

The boys came second at a start-up competition at Deakin University in April, before pitching their idea at state finals in May.

The boys hope to keep the service free for all Australian students:
