Vandals have taken to the wicket at Leo Dineen Reserve leaving the Tullamarine Cricket Club with no choice but to call on the community for help.
Issuing a plea on Sunday morning on social media, the club called on the community to come forward with any information they may have on the incident.
Club president Justin Shield told Star Weekly that said he is very disappointed as this is not the first time the club has been attacked this season.
“We’re a blue collar club and we work really hard to keep everything going and keep our community happy with sport,” he said.
“It hasn’t been the first time this season… we have had some graffiti too.”
Mr Shield said the club is working with both Hume council and police to investigate the issue.
“We were hanging around after the game and we left at about 9.30pm,” he said.
“We got there on Sunday at 8.30am and noticed all the tire marks on the pitch.
“We don’t know if it is a targeted attack.”
Mr Shield said while the wicket was badly damaged next week’s play would not be affected.
“The curator is confident that he will be able to get the ground up and running for Saturday,” he said.
