‘Truly Exceptional’ twins leave a lasting legacy

Twin brothers, who have left a lasting legacy for Sunshine students, have received a top educational award.

Sunshine Harvester Primary School’s Shadrach and Isaac Phuting were recognised for their extraordinary scholastic efforts at the 2015 MY Education Awards on September 8, taking home the gong as ‘outstanding primary students’.

In 2012, the twins were instrumental in developing a homework club at their school to support newly arrived students.

The boys have been at every club get-together, even when they’ve been sick.

Harvester Primary teacher Chris Durbridge described the brothers as “truly exceptional”, saying they had left a legacy for others to follow.

“We’ve had hundreds of kids, but every now and then you get some really special ones,” she said.

“They’re fantastic kids. The day they walked into this school, the whole place changed.”
