Trio arrested after 10-month investigation

Three men from the western suburbs have been arrested following a 10-month investigation into a series of commercial burglaries.

Police will allege the trio – a 26-year-old Cairnlea man, a 43-year-old Albanvale man and a 29-year-old Hoppers Crossing man – were part of a syndicate that stole approximately $1 million worth of items from commercial businesses in multiple suburbs across the metropolitan area between March and October.

Investigators executed search warrants at residential properties in Albanvale, Cairnlea and Hoppers Crossing on Thursday 23 October.

Officers located and seized a number of items from the properties, including three firearms, around 2 kilograms of cannabis and 30 grams of methylamphetamines.

Detectives also located two allegedly stolen vehicles, along with a large amount of stolen property.

The Cairnlea man has been charged with several offences and was remanded to appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on Friday 24 October.

The Albanvale man and the Hoppers Crossing man have also been charged with numerous offences and were both bailed to appear before Wyndham Magistrates’ Court on 17 April.

The investigation remains ongoing.
