Locations across Brimbank are among those where trees are being planted as part of phase one of More Trees for a Cooler, Greener West.
More than 30,000 trees will be planted as part of the first phase across the west, with more than $5 million to be spent in total to help increase shade cover.
The program aims to plant trees in urban areas with the lowest tree canopy cover
Several projects are being delivered in Brimbank in partnership with other groups.
Brimbank council is helping planting street trees in St Albans and Kings Park, while the Department of Transport is partnering to plant trees in St Albans and Derrimut.
Parks Victoria is helping plant trees at Brimbank Park and Organ Pipes National Park to provide more shade coverage.
Trees are also being planted in Taylors Hill, Caroline Springs and Hillside as part of the first phase.
Phase two starts in 2022, with stage three to be completed by the middle of 2023.
