Train services on the Sunbury line had their best performance of the year in April, with improvements to timeliness and services.
The line delivered 99 per cent of all services in April, up from 98.6 per cent the previous month, its best result since October, 2017.
The number of services delivered on time was also up markedly, with 91.1 per cent of services delivered on time, the second best result in the past 12 months.
Overall, metropolitan trains had a punctuality result of 93.2 per cent.
V/Line services on the Ballarat line also showed a dramatic improvement, up eight per cent to 85.4 per cent of services on time.
Public Transport Victoria chief executive Jeroen Weimar said the improvements in timeliness across the network was pleasing, especially given some major events in the month.
“April saw our operators deliver significant performance improvements, on top of extra morning services on Anzac Day to ensure thousands of Victorians could pay their respects at dawn services,” Mr Weimar said.
“There has been a marked improvement in V/Line services in April with punctuality improvements seen on almost every line.”
