A new shared path linking the Western Ring Road via Stony Creek to Tottenham railway station in Maribyrnong was officially opened last Tuesday.
The new $4.8million, 6.4-kilometre Sunshine Trail shared-user path includes a one-kilometre criterium circuit, single-track cross-country mountain bike circuit, a recreational BMX track and dirt jumps track.
Opening the path on National Ride2Work Day, Brimbank chairman of administrators John Watson said the trail would give local cyclists direct access to the Greater Melbourne bicycle network and the CBD.
More than 900 trees and 90,000 plants were planted as part of the project, which also includes a 30-space carpark on Forrest Street for commuters using Ardeer station.
