More than 160 Brimbank residents found new best friends at The Lost Dogs’ Home in the 12 months until November.

In new data revealed by the home, it found that 4758 cats or dogs were adopted from the home in that 12 month period.

The data showed Victorians were prepared to travel far and wide to find their special companions with adopters coming from as far as Macedon, Swan Hill and East Gippsland.

In Brimbank, there a total of 164 adoptions from The Lost Dogs’ Home, with the majority of them cat. Of the 164, 143 were cat or kitten adoption, with the remaining 21 dogs or puppies.

The City of Melbourne had the highest number of overall adoptions with 507, followed by Casey (427) and Moreland (332).

The Home’s spokesperson Suzana Talevski said the results were a credit to Victorians everywhere.

“Almost 5000 animals have been adopted this year,” she said.

“That means a second or third chance at a happy forever after for so many vulnerable and abandoned animals.

“Victorian’s are a passionate community of animal lovers and we are extremely grateful for that.

“Congratulations to everyone who took in one of our beautiful animals and made a wonderful change in their lives.”
