New Saturday market at Plumpton

Fresh fruits, handmade jewellery, collectible art and even fishing gear were up for sale when the Tarameade Country Market opened its gates at the weekend.

“It’s a local community market … for the community by the community,” market manager Felicity Ashman said.

Highlighting the community connection, car parking at the event will be by gold coin donation, with proceeds distributed to community groups which will manage the carpark on market days.

Ms Ashman tipped that hot food vendors, including those selling Greek donuts and pizzas, were are likely to be a huge hit.

The country market will be every Saturday, 9am-2pm, at 1227 Holden Road, Plumpton. Details: 0400 520 042
