Brimbank residents are being urged to observe a minute’s silence and commemorate those who served and sacrificed in all wars on Remembrance Day this week.

Sunshine RSL president Garry Collins and dozens of volunteers will be selling poppies as part of the annual appeal to support men, women who served in the armed forces as well as their families.

This Remembrance Day, RSL Victoria is asking all Australians to Remember to Remember – to commit to pausing for one minute at 11am on November 11 to mark when the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War I.

The Melbourne Remembrance Day service will be broadcast via the RSL Victoria Facebook page from 10.45am.

The theme for this year’s service will be the 75th anniversary of the end of the World War II.

Trams, cars and busses will stop as musicians stationed at iconic Melbourne landmarks join for the annual bugle playing activation where they play The Last Post in unison in a solemn tribute to the fallen.
