Three charged following alleged stabbing

Three people have been charged following an alleged stabbing in St Albans at the weekend.

Emergency services were called following a collision and armed car-jacking at the intersection of Taylors Road and Kerrison Avenue, St Albans, about 2pm on Sunday.

It’s alleged the vehicle collided with a second vehicle at the intersection and the occupants of the first vehicle then tried unsuccessfully to gain access to that car.

The group then headed further along Kerrison Avenue and subsequently car-jacked a vehicle occupied by a lone female driver.

A 69-year-old St Albans man attempted to intervene and was stabbed a number of times.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in a serious condition.

The occupants of the vehicle involved in the collision were also taken to hospital for treatment.

The following day, police executed warrants in Taylors Hill, Derrimut, Deer Park, Meadow Heights and Truganina.

They arrested and charged three people in relation to the alleged stabbing.

A 19-year-old Derrimut man has been charged with aggravated carjacking, intentionally causing serious injury, and attempted aggravated burglary, while a Meadow Heights man has been charged with aggravated carjacking, assault and affray.

A 21-year-old Taylors Hill man has been charged with possessing drug of dependence, while a 21-year-old Deer Park man has been released pending further inquiries.

During the searches police also seized a number of items from the addresses including weapons, cash, stolen property and drugs.
