Melbourne Victory’s comeback win against Wellington Phoenix last week was extra special for a fan from Sunshine West.
Isaac Haber, 13, the Victory’s “mini media manager” for the A-League soccer clash, rubbed shoulders with players, coaches and broadcasters, witnessing the 2-1 win from the sideline.
Isaac secured the magical game-day opportunity by submitting a video of himself imitating Victory coach Kevin Muscat.
“It was very good – the Victory were very welcoming,” Isaac said.
“I got to be on the Fox Sports podcast, interview Andy Harper and Daniel Garb, and also see all the players and interview the assistant coach for Victory.
“After the game, I set up the press conference for Kevin Muscat and I got to go to the coaches box, and use the Fox mics.
“It was lots of fun.”
Victory scored twice in the closing stages to take the win and videos of Isaac celebrating on the sidelines have been circulating on the club’s social media channels since Sunday.
Isaac is hoping to make the sport fields familiar territory.
“I’d love to be a sports commentator,” he said. “I really like Andy Harper and Robbie Slater in soccer, and Bruce McAvaney and Dennis Cometti in the AFL … I’d really love to commentate soccer one day.”
