Tennis program a big hit

An innovative tennis program at Christ the Priest Catholic Primary School in Caroline Springs has earnt the school an invitation to the finals of the 2023 Victorian Tennis Awards.

Nominated in the Most Outstanding School division, Christ the Priest has worked in partnership with iTennis Coaching Academy to provide all students with the opportunity to learn about and participate in games of tennis.

The teaching is evidently sinking in, with students winning gold in the school boys’ tennis championships and bronze in the school girls’ tennis championship last year.

Christ the Priest Principal Adele Vesty said the finalist nomination is It is great recognition of the enthusiasm students and staff have put into improving their tennis skills and ability.

“Students are very excited about the nomination. The whole experience has created a passion for tennis with our younger students who now want to get involved,” she said.

“The support of organisations such as Tennis Victoria and School Sports Victoria has been so important in allowing our students these opportunities and experiences.”

The winners of the 2023 Victorian Tennis Awards will be announced at an event on Kooyong Lawn on October 17.

Tennis Victoria chief executive Adam Crameri said he is looking forward to recognising the incredible efforts of the Victorian tennis community across the past 12 months.

“Well done to all of the 2023 finalists for the Victorian Tennis Awards. We take great pride in celebrating and recognising the achievements of the Victorian Tennis Community each year, and the calibre of this years finalists is outstanding,” he said.

“Congratulations to all finalists and we look forward to celebrating you all in October.”
