Ten vie for election in St Albans

Ten candidates are vying for election in the St Albans electorate.

The electorate covers Keilor Downs, Kealba, St Albans, Sunshine North, Cairnlea and part of Adeer and Albion.

A 2020-21 boundary redistribution resulted in most Albion and Ardeer being moved to the Laverton electorate, while Cairnlea voters were transferred from Kororoit to St Albans.

Two Brimbank councillors – Maria Kerr and Virginia Tachos – are contesting the seat.

Labor MP Natalie Suleyman has held the seat since 2014. Labor has a 22 per cent margin.

The candidates, in the order they will appear on the ballot paper are: Kerr (Liberal), Mark Hobart (Labor DLP), Van Thanh Rudd (Victorian Socialists), Russell Walton (Family First Victoria), Natalie Suleyman (Labor), Zaffer Mannan (New Democrats), Joel Bently (Greens), Tachos (independent), Kim Cullen (Freedom Party of Victoria) and Jason Caracassis (Animal Justice Party).
