Teenage girls arrested after car stolen

Police arrested five teenage girls, including a 16-year-old Deer Park girl, after a follow in Melbourne’s northern suburbs in an allegedly stolen car overnight.

Investigators tracked an allegedly stolen vehicle on Flemington Road in North Melbourne about 12.30am.

Police followed the car through Carlton before it came to a stop on Queensbury Street.

Along with the 16-year-old Deer Park girl, a 15-year-old Brookfield girl, a 16-year-old Melton West girl, a 16-year-old Fitzroy North girl and a 15-year-old girl from Fitzroy are assisting police with their enquiries.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen from Preston and has been returned to the owner.
