A teenage boy has been charged with the murder of Aguer Akech.

The 17-year-old died after he was assaulted during a brawl at the Keilor Plains railway station in the early hours of December 22, 2019.

The gang-busting Echo Taskforce charged a 15-year Tarneit boy in relation to the incident on Wednesday afternoon.

He will face the Children’s Court at a later date.

CCTV footage of the night shows a number of young men armed with sticks and fence posts before the fatal stabbing took place.

Investigators believe the incident is linked to an altercation earlier that weekend at a soccer game at Green Gully Reserve during an all-day tournament.

Police have been told that two groups of men arranged to meet at the Keilor Plains station about 11.30pm on December 21 to resolve the dispute when a fight broke out.

Aguer was one of several people who crossed a pedestrian walkway to the western side of the station near Regan Street. He collapsed on Regan Street and died at the scene.
