A Taylors Lakes residential development initiative has led to a $67,000 donation from Development Victoria to help increase the supply of social and affordable housing across the state.

The money was raised through the Taylors Quarter residential development in which 0.1 per cent of the sales price for each land sale was donated to not-for-profit organisation Homes for Homes.

The sales commenced in June 2019 with homes selling fast with a high level of uptake for the initiative despite it being voluntary for all purchases.

Development Victoria partnered with Homes for Homes to pilot the initiative to support the need for social and affordable housing in the community and to address homelessness.

With all lots within the development now settled, the donation to Homes for Homes was officially

presented by Development Victoria’s Group Head Property Penny Forrest.

“It is exciting to see that all lots at Taylors Quarter have now settled, bringing purchasers one step closer to moving into their dream homes, close to shops, schools and public transport,” Ms Forrest said.

“Construction of these homes and a new public park are well underway.

“We’re committed to increasing the supply of homes for those who need it most and we are proud to have partnered with Homes for Homes to help achieve this.

“Future sales for each of the participating lots will see additional contributions made to Homes for Homes.

Homes for Homes chief executive Steven Persson was pleased to have Development Victoria’s support in helping end homelessness.

“It is wonderful to have the support of Development Victoria in our journey towards ending

homelessness,” Mr Persson said.

“Development Victoria has shown great leadership in registering the entire Taylors Quarter

development with Homes for Homes.

“We thank them for their initiative and dedication to supporting those living on the margins.”
