Moorabool council has looked to experience, with veteran councillor Paul Tatchell elected to his fourth consecutive stint in the mayoral
chair.
The Central ward councillor was re-elected last week, with experienced eastern ward councillor John Keogh to serve as deputy mayor.
Both have served in the same positions in the past 12 months.
Cr Tatchell said before he was last re-elected that that term was likely to be his final stint on council.
Last week he said his priorities of securing more state and federal funding for infrastructure across the shire remain the same.
Following the recent state election, Cr Tatchell said he believed the shire had been neglected by the state government.
“This election was critical for us,” he said.
“With nearly $30 billion being thrown around over the next 10 years … we are unlikely to get anything.
“We’ve got this enormous growth and absolutely no infrastructure.
“Our wish list wasn’t about what would be nice to have.
“It was purely about critical infrastructure and we’ve been completely ignored.
“We are part of the peri-urban region and we need to be recognised more. That’s the immediate goal.”
