Taliah’s big win

Taliah Pistikakis was proud for many reasons after winning the Essendon District Football League under-10 mixed four best and fairest, but one stood out more than the others.

The 10-year-old who plays for Taylors Lakes, was the runaway winner in the best and fairest finishing on 23 votes.

“I felt so excited,” she said. “My dad won a league best and fairest, which is really cool. He taught me a lot of my skills.

“I was jumping all over him and I was running around and hugging everyone.”

Taliah, who didn’t think she had any chance of winning, spent most of the season in the midfeld, but also kicked eight goals to finish third in the goal kicking.

She said she enjoyed playing football with the boys.

“They tackle harder and they are always trying to tackle me.”

The Collingwood fan, who loves Oliie Henry and Chloe Molloy, is obsessed with football and takes a football to bed every day.

She’s also constantly annoying her sister by tackling her at home.

Taliah has big dreams for the future.

“I would love to play AFLW for Collingwood.”
