A suspicious fire tore through a home in St Albans on Tuesday 7 October and will be investigated by police.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 4.01 pm to find the fire had fully engulfed the Walmer Avenue house and was threatening to spread to a neighbouring property.

Crews escalated the response and entered the structure with hose lines to attack the blaze and conduct a primary search for any occupants in the dwelling.

The fire was deemed under control at 4.41pm.

A secondary search confirmed no occupants inside the house, and no injuries were reported.
