Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a vacant property in Sunshine North last night.
Triple-0 received several calls reporting a fire at a single storey weatherboard house in Balcombe Road about 11.40pm.
Fire Rescue Victoria crews
arrived within minutes and found the back of the house fully engulfed and the fire spreading towards the front.
A search by firefighters confirmed the property was vacant.
Crews contained the fire to the rear section and it was
under control within 32 minutes.
Power and gas companies were on scene to assist.
A community warning was issued due to the thick smoke drifting south of the
property. Nearby neighbours were advised to stay indoors, close doors and
windows and avoid travelling on the roads in the area.
FRV crews remained on scene overnight to ensure the fire was extinguished.
Vicpol was also on scene.
