Suspected hit run victim was shot

A St Albans man found lying on a median strip on Ballarat Road last week had a gun shot wound to his leg.

PoliceĀ  found the man with serious head and facial injuries near Holt Street, about 1.50am on Tuesday, May 29 and thought he had been involved in an assault or hit run.

Paramedics were called and the 27-year-old was taken to hospital where staff discovered he also had a gunshot wound to his left leg.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s injuries are still uncertain.

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are appealing for information.

They believe a number of vehicles are likely to have driven past the man lying on the median strip and are appealing for any possible witnesses to come forward.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam vision showing the man or the circumstances leading up to his injuries.
