Police have impounded a vehicle after it was detected travelling nearly twice the speed limit in Fairfield early morning on Saturday 25 October.
It is alleged the Honda Accord was detected travelling 194km/h on the Eastern Freeway about 12.45am.
Officers intercepted the car and spoke to the probationary driver, a 21-year-old Sunshine West man.
The Honda was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $999.52, and the driver will be charged on summons to face court at a later date.
Police said they were unable to fulfil the requests from the driver for a ride home or to pay for his taxi.
