Residents in Sunshine West, Sunshine and Brooklyn may see or smell smoke due to a fire at a landfill site in Sunshine West.
Fire Rescue Victoria alerted the public to the fire on Somerville Road, Sunshine West, and firefighters are currently attending.
FRV said in a Facebook post there is no immediate threat and no action is required, however residents may see or smell smoke in the area.
The Environmental Protection Agency said on Twitter that they are currently assisting FRV in their response.
They said it is an underground fire in a closed landfill.
“Fire management is underway but there could be odour in the area and residents should close their windows and doors if affected,” the EPA said.
