Sunshine businesses celebrated

The inaugural Sunshine Business Awards

made quite the impression on Wednesday,

August 10, as businesses from across Sunshine

were celebrated and $42,000 in prizes was

awarded.

Organised by the Sunshine Business

Association, the awards were celebrated at a

gala event at Peony House, attended by 120

people.

SBA said 470 businesses and organisations

were in the running for the awards, with 12

winners across categories including fashion

and jewellery, business service, café and hair

and beauty.

The awards aimed to recognise small

businesses that survived the COVID-19

lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 and are now

“battling” through recovery.

SBA president Vu Du said the association

wanted to recognise and reward Sunshine’s

“best and brightest” businesses.

“Win or lose, our businesses were happy

to celebrate with the best, network and

collaborate in our first ever business awards.

“The 12 winners have demonstrated

exceptional leadership in their respective

categories and more importantly made a

positive impact within the community.

“In light on our current inflation and

struggles of many business during COVID

we hope that with this promotion will not

only provide recognition to the businesses/

community leaders for a job well done, but

to also share their insights on their success

stories so that other businesses can feel

empowered to do the same.”

The community was able to vote for their

favourite businesses between Wednesday,

June 1 and Sunday, July 31.
