Commuters using trains on the Sunbury line experienced their most punctual services in the past 12 months according to new data from Public Transport Victoria.
The monthly performance results showed a marked improvement in the number of Sunbury line services arriving on time, with 92.6 per cent of services arriving within five minutes of their scheduled time.
It was more than 3 per cent better than June’s 89.5 per cent punctuality marker, and was also ahead of the overall performance result of 89.9 per cent.
PTV chief executive Jeroen Weimar said the results were very pleasing considering the number of commuters on the train network continued to grow.
“More and more people are relying on our public transport network to get them where they need to go, we are focused on ensuring we are delivering the service they expect and deserve,” Mr Weimar said.
The Ballarat V/Line service also recorded a strong improvement in punctuality in July, with 85.9 per cent of services delivered on time, compared to June’s 82.5 per cent.
It was the Ballarat line’s best result since November 2017.
