Train services on the Sunbury line dipped in their performance last month, however they finished better than the 2018 averages.
The Sunbury line delivered 99 per cent of services across December, a slight dip from the 99.4 per cent in the previous month, but just 91.1 per cent of those services arrived on time.
While November was the second best month of 2018 in terms of punctuality, with 92.2 per cent of services on time, there was a marked drop in performance across the line in December.
Public Transport Victoria chief executive Jeroen Weimar said overall performance across the month was positive, especially with New Year’s Eve celebrations and some extreme weather to contend with.
“More than 500 extra services on New Year’s Eve helped hundreds of thousands of Victorians welcome in the new year with family and friends, and get home safely using public transport,” Mr Weimar said.
“As we move into the height of summer, we are also seeing operators take more proactive steps to reduce the impact to passengers of Victoria’s extreme weather days including better communications, extreme weather timetables to give certainty about services running.”
The Ballarat V/Line service recorded 94.3 per cent of services delivered, with 86.5 per cent of those on time.
