The Caroline Springs Tennis Centre has been serving up a series of events this tennis season as a part of the Caroline Springs Summer of Tennis.
The centre has held a number of tournaments at the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre over summer for more experienced players, but most recently, the courts were open to the community for a day of fun and skill development on Monday, January 23.
The Summer of tennis coincides with the Australian Open to get people involved on a community level while they’re watching games on the big screen.
Coaches from the Caroline Springs Tennis Club hosted two free tennis workshops on the day, a 10am session for kids aged eight to 11, and an 11am session for teenagers aged 12 to 16, followed by a free sausage sizzle.
The aim of the sessions was to get kids on the courts to learn some basic tennis skills, providing a pathway to the club for future play.
More experienced young people also had the chance to hone their developing skill sets.
Melton Council Facilities Activation & Engagement Officer Catrice Lumley said the booked-out event was a big success.
“It was a really great day – great turnout, great weather, great fun,” she said.
“We had a barbeque afterwards which was really nice for all the kids and parents to sit and refuel.”
