Succulent success for Sunshine duo

Two Sunshine children are doing their bit to tackle climate change, one succulent at a time.

Nine-year-old Digby and five-year-old Bonnie have been busy decorating containers to house succulents.

They then sell their colourful creations, complete with succulents, for less than $5.

Digby said it was great to be able to make a difference.

“It’s all to help climate change, the more trees we plant, the less impact climate change will have,” he said.

“All the money we raise goes to One Tree Planted, which is a charity that plants trees with the money they receive.”

Digby and Bonnie recently made their first donation to One Tree Planted and were thrilled to have 50 trees credited to their name.

But Digby said making each pot is also half the fun.

“It’s great fun, we’ve had people save tins for us and I’ve got to help spray paint them,” he said.

“Succulents were the obvious choice because they’re easy to grow and we already had a lot of them because mum likes them.”

The pair have set up a Facebook page to help move their sales along. Details: www.facebook.com/Tins4trees112666646975457/
