The Filipino Community Council of Victoria has answered hundreds of calls for help the past couple of weeks.

The Brooklyn-based group has been doing what it can to help those less fortunate and struggling during COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

The group has delivered more than 1000 grocery packages to people across Melbourne, with volunteers packing more than 3000 kilograms of groceries.

Among those to benefit from the emergency relief program are international students, temporary migrants, women, senior citizens and job seekers.

Group members have also worked with Filipino restaurants in Sunshine, Albanvale and Werribee to provide hot meals.

The program, which is supported by the state government and Brimbank council, is part of the multicultural communities priority response during the lockdown.

The group is struggling to meet demand and is accepting food donations. Cash donations can be deposited straight into their account 063-253 10984645.
