Parkwood Green Primary School welcomed a special guest last week to open its burgeoning kitchen garden.
Stephanie Alexander, founder of the Kitchen Garden Foundation, which helps set up food gardens and provides fresh-food education through hands-on learning, joined a morning tea prepared by grade 4 pupils and parent volunteers.
Ms Alexander said she was impressed by the school’s gardening progress.
School spokeswoman Kellie Neil told the special visitor: “We’re enjoying spring; our gardens are well established and we’re caring for 11 free-range chickens.”
